Water Sports

There's many ways to enjoy the outdoors in Northumberland. Water Sports come in many forms and due to the coastal region of this county and the many rivers and lakes. Kayaking, canoeing, surfing and wind-surfing can all be done off the coast for those who are ready to brave the sea. If you prefer not to get wet a boat tour to the historic island of Lindisfarne or fishing trip might be a better option. Rafting and canoeing can also be enjoyed inland on the rivers with some providing genuine white-knuckle and white-water excitement. Kielder Water is Europe's largest man-made lake and visitors can enjoy sailing, wind-surfing and canoeing. Visitors to Leaplish Waterside Park can enjoy the best of both worlds by staying in lodges next to the lake but having the use of an indoor heated swimming pool.
